About the Workshop
Join Creative Captioner Rachel Sampley, whose work has been seen at the National Theatre, the Barbican, and around the world, for an introduction to creating captions that make theatre productions accessible for deaf and hard of hearing patrons.
Rachel’s workshop will introduce participants to the following topics. No experience necessary! This workshop is appropriate for complete beginners.
1. How to patch projectors and map video
2. How to approach and breakdown a script
3. How to format a script to input into QLab.
4. How to edit captions within QLab.
5. How to make creative choices within QLab.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to understand how to successfully work with a captioner and how to create their own basic captions.
